TOM BAWCOCK
This legendary figure appears to have been a fisherman from the Cornish village of Mousehole. One winter had been particularly stormy meaning that none of the fishing boats had been able to leave harbour. With the villagers facing starvation, Tom decided to brave the storms and raging seas and single-handedly managed to catch enough fish to produce a huge pie sufficient to feed the entire village.
